Now that Nazo no Kanojo X has reached that point where, if viewers were going to be deterred from watching it for one reason or another, this would have already have taken place, I feel it’s beginning to flag a little. This episode, in particular, was largely unnecessary as it merely regurgitated the last’s overarching themes. Yes, that right, I’m in a critical mood today after having been let down by my protégée show!
Last week’s episode largely revolved around the fact that it wasn’t necessary to go through the same, tired old motions of developing a relationship, the motions everyone else seems to adhere to yet, here we were again with Tsubaki desperate to kiss Urabe. Why? Because he saw some other couple doing it and thought it looked cool! *sigh* Really, I thought, we’re doing this again? And once again, it was up to Urabe to set him straight with her magic drool, which can not only bring about a physiological response but, can now also plant unconscious thoughts and desires into one’s mind!
And then there was the whole deal with Ogata. At least it ended up linking to the first half of the episode, something I couldn’t see it doing at first as, for the large majority of this section, I thought Urabe waiting a day to give Ogata a reply to his confession was her way of testing Tsubaki’s trust in her but, that’s weak praise as even this was a rehash of the topics covered last week. Yes, that’s right; this was another test of the bond between Urabe and Tsubaki. Urabe wanted to discover whether or not they understood each other’s feelings by testing the bond between her and Ogata, for comparative purposes. Why this was necessary, I’m not sure- testing the bond between our couple was something last episode did but, better. After all, what’s at all tender or exciting about proving you have no attachment to someone you’ve barely spoken to?
Last week’s post was largely on how much I loved how well Nazo no Kanojo had explored the above themes, which is why I’m so annoyed at the show right now, why explore the same things again when you did such a good job last week? I was hoping for a little more progression! Especially considering as this is only a 12 episode show so, doesn’t have the greatest deal of time to faff about like this!
To finish on a more positive note, as this episode was sooo repetitive, I often found my mind wondering and focusing on the BGM. I think I mentioned liking it during my first post on Nazo no Kanojo X but, I just wanted to reiterate that point. One of the main themes sounds like a slightly eerie take on traditional carousel music, and really captures the almost fantastical element of the show. I also really enjoyed the theme that was playing during the final few minutes of this episode, it’s a shame that what was actually going on on-screen wasn’t terribly exciting- it could have made it all seem incredibly moving. Piano and woodwind instruments tend to have that effect on me!
Please, please, please be better next week Nazo no Kanojo- you’re up against some amazing shows this season so, don’t let yourself flag this early on in the game!

So maybe it isn’t past the point where people will lose interest in it and stop watching, huh? : P
Maybe it’s pulling somewhat of an Endless Eight like thing where they repeat things every week?
See i told you it would be rubbish, here is just the start
One bad episode does not mark the fall of a series, you should know better than that by now! : p
