Let me make a brief confession. I downloaded and started watching episode 10 of Korra thinking I was on that episode, when in actuality the last episode I watched was episode 8, so basically, I managed to spoil an entire episode for myself! Therefore, the fact that I was still buzzed as hell watching the episode is a credit to it! Legend of Korra really is quite good at topping fantastic episodes with even greater episodes. Just when you think it can’t get any better, it does! For most of this series I’ve remained adamant that the first series of Avatar is better (mainly because it managed to create a balance between hilarious and edge-of-set exciting), but now, I’m beginning to question this judgement- I’ve always valued a nice, meaty story that keeps you on your toes over comedy, which makes me think I may just be a teensy-tiny bit prejudiced against Korra (which has just a story) as Legend of Aang came first… I dunno, I guess I’ll wait to see how this finale plays out before making a firm decision!
Man, that was a manic episode! During this episode Tarrlok’s credibility as a villain was established as he lorded his power over a whole bunch of non-bending innocents, arrested ¾ of the new Team Avatar and kidnapped Korra. We also discover that he’s a blood-bender, and may have played a part in the scene of Korra’s flashbacks. You know, I’ve been watching a lot of One Piece lately, the Enies Lobby arc, to be precise. It has taken the Straw Hat Pirates and the Franky Family nearly ten episodes to get from the main entrance of Enies Lobby to the courthouse… Really puts things into perspective!
