This year, more so than any other year since I began watching anime, the scheduling gods have been benevolent towards me. I’ve received a bounty of sequels to some of my all-time favourite shows and a wealth of amazing anime greenlit for next year.

#16 What Anime Do You Think Has the Best Animation?
Attack on Titan
I would like you to read the following blog post about the anime that I think has the best animation bearing in mind that, when it comes to animation, I’m a complete novice whose entire knowledge base consists of things I learned watching Shirobako! I don’t know how it all works (despite having grown up with technology it still mystifies me) and I don’t know any of the fancy-pants terminology, so please bear with me, somebody who’s going to do their very best to explain what they love about Attack on Titan’s animation, in patience and in kindness!
Generally speaking, Summer ’18 has been a fairly good season of anime, so far. We’ve had several highly anticipated sequels that have, in my opinion, proven themselves to be worth the wait as well as several enjoyable standalone shows, such as Banana Fish, Hanebado!, and Cells at Work. But, more than being both solid and entertaining, Summer ’18 has been a cracking season in terms of its portrayal of women…
I used to write what I called season previews, where I would write a little bit about every single upcoming anime (yes, even the ones for children) after digging up some info on them. The aim was to help inform my readers’ decisions on what shows to watch. But the amount of anime that airs every season has increased substantially, so from now on I’m only going to write about the shows that I’ll be watching. I’ll cover three kinds of show: the ones that I’m continuing to watch from previous seasons, sequels, and standalones. I’ll also write a short summary on my overall impression of the upcoming season. I hope that this will not just help you decide what to watch, but also give you an idea of what especially stood out to me and what I may end up writing about in the not-too-distant future.
Disclaimer: I know that some people really commit to their research into new shows, even going so far as to check out the source material, but I prefer not to do that. Partly because I think this can reduce the impact of the first episode and partly because I can’t afford to invest in manga, games, etc. that I don’t know for sure that I’ll like. My “research” usually involves watching trailers and doing a bit of digging on the forums. If that doesn’t sound in-depth enough for you, you’re not going to get much out of reading further.
I’ve loved anime for close to a decade now. During this time a lot of things have changed. Some of these changes have been small, e.g., subtle changes in animation quality and art style, whereas some of these changes have been considerably bigger. Today I wanted to discuss some of these bigger changes, many of which have come about in recent years, and how they’ve helped make this a great time to be an anime fan.
