Before I start I would like to say the following: please, please, please don’t read this blog post if you’ve yet to watch both series of Code Geass, as it contains major spoilers that will ruin the entire franchise for you. For those of you who have performed your civic duty and watched this awesome anime, grab yourself some tissues and proceed!
Anime is chock-full of shocking scenes. That’s one of the things I love most about it – it’s ability to sucker you in, catch you off guard, and subvert all of your expectations! Griffith’s betrayal in Berserk, that death in Death Note, the moment when we first saw a different side to the girls of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica’s legendary twist, School Days’ gruesome finale… These are but a few of the scenes that come to mind when considering this topic. However, the award for the scene that shocked me the most would have to go to Mitty’s transformation in Made in Abyss. Major spoilers for the show ahead.
Despite growing up on Bleach, One Piece, and Naruto – all big name shounen anime with attacks far more iconic than Saitama’s punch – it would still have to be my all-time favourite. This can be boiled down to three simple reasons.
Today I will be, once again, cheating with this challenge (this has now become a kind of trend), as my actual favourite anime weapon is Attack on Titan’s maneuver gear. Alas, I already waxed lyrical over this amazing piece of weaponry during an earlier entry for this challenge, so, so as not to bore you guys to death, I thought that I’d discuss my second favourite weapon: Saya Otonashi’s katana (since I have not talked nearly enough about Blood+ for my liking)!
I’ll keep today’s blog post short and sweet – partly because I’m writing this on the back of a nine hour shift at work (which began at 6am this morning), so I’m not sure how coherent I will be, and partly because it’s actually extremely difficult to explain why you find something funny. Humour is so objective and during the painful process of dissecting a joke, it really stops being funny! But, hey, I’ll give this my best shot. Nichijou’s Yuuko is, by far, my favourite goofball character. Here’s why:
