While browsing the Internet one day I stumbled across this neat little thing called the 30 day anime challenge. It’s actually been floating around for quite some time, though I’m not sure where exactly it originated, but the general idea is to write a little bit about each challenge item. I’ve done something similar before with the Remembering Love challenge, but it’s been many years now since I took part in that challenge and I thought that by taking part in this one I could help any new readers of my blog get to know me a bit better, my likes and dislikes, and what-not. I’m also hoping to encourage people to give the shows I write about a go in addition to spreading a bit of positivity. I’ll probably publish my posts weekly, as opposed to daily, as I don’t have the time to write a new post every day and I still want to release other content, so even though it might take a while for me to finish the challenge, I hope that you’ll stick with me!

I have, for the most part, been incredibly unfortunate when it comes to my favourite shows getting sequels, in that it rarely ever happens! I won’t name and shame, but it always seems to be the uninspired garbage that gets multiple series- I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, it’s difficult being in the minority, indifferent to the shows the masses seem to want more and more of… (•_•). ( •_•)>⌐□-□. (⌐□_□) But this year’s been different. This year Jormungand and Moyashimon, both shows I enjoyed immensely, released a second series, and Chihaya is due its second within just weeks! But for me, by far the most exciting sequel was the sequel to Avatar The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra.
Apparently the secret to making a show that is compulsive viewing is to cram as much into each episode each week as is humanely possible. That’s what Legend of Korra’s been doing consistently right from the very start, and look at how amazing that is! This week we’ve got a lover’s quarrel between Mako and Asami, Amon kidnapping the councillors and launching an attack on Republic City, Pema going into labour, Tenzin whisking his family away, Lin sacrificing herself, and Korra… not doing a great deal apparently…
Let me make a brief confession. I downloaded and started watching episode 10 of Korra thinking I was on that episode, when in actuality the last episode I watched was episode 8, so basically, I managed to spoil an entire episode for myself! Therefore, the fact that I was still buzzed as hell watching the episode is a credit to it! Legend of Korra really is quite good at topping fantastic episodes with even greater episodes. Just when you think it can’t get any better, it does! For most of this series I’ve remained adamant that the first series of Avatar is better (mainly because it managed to create a balance between hilarious and edge-of-set exciting), but now, I’m beginning to question this judgement- I’ve always valued a nice, meaty story that keeps you on your toes over comedy, which makes me think I may just be a teensy-tiny bit prejudiced against Korra (which has just a story) as Legend of Aang came first… I dunno, I guess I’ll wait to see how this finale plays out before making a firm decision!
Wow, that was something else. I had to give it a couple of days between watching the episode and writing this ‘cause the only thought I had after watching it was: arghwysofnshapd, and I figured that wouldn’t make for a particularly insightful post. Sadly, my thoughts haven’t collected themselves into resembling anything a bit more intelligent since then but, couldn’t put off writing this for much longer!
