From experience there is absolutely no point in trying to second guess what an episodic comedy will do next, but even if I had made an attempt to predict what would follow last week’s episode, I don’t think I would’ve accurately guessed that this week’s episode would also be devoted to the development of Ichiko’s character. Now, repetition is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to anime (all you’d need do is read my Nazo no Kanojo posts to see that!), but I’d say this is more a continuation of rather than repetition of this theme, and it’s given the series some kind of focus, which is really satisfying to see.

After last week’s episode my expectations of Binbougami-ga! were lower than an elderly woman’s breasts. This week, even in spite of the preview’s promise of the introduction of a new character, I steeled myself for more of the same: a lot of girl-on-girl abuse, yelling and boob jokes, but this episode actually turned out much better than expected as the aforementioned new character, Tsuwabuki, brought with him a whole new perspective that resulted in a momentary overhaul of Ichiko’s character.
So after much ooh-ing and um-ing I’ve decided to blog Binbougami-ga! this season, Humanity Has Declined oh-so-narrowly missing out! In case you’re wondering what my selection process is for blogging a show, or how thorough it is in comparison to my selection of shows I want to watch, it’s simply just a matter of going with my gut, and this time my gut told me to go with this, even though the length of the show hasn’t yet been announced, so, who knows, I could be stuck writing about it forever! I also wanted to cover a show of a different genre to that of the previous two shows I’ve blogged about and thought I’d give comedy a go, a genre perhaps more challenging than action or romance. I’m always trying to convince myself that I love a challenge, so set my sights high, but always regret doing so once it’s too late, so doubtless this will be an interesting experiment for me!
It being just over a month since I started my first show of the Spring ’12 season, I thought I’d let anyone out there who cares know how I’m getting along with the shows I picked out. Feel free to compare to my Spring ’12 preview and see how horribly wrong or, (more applicable) scarily right I was about these shows. I’ve arranged the shows in descending order too, just another indicator of how much I’m enjoying them, knock yourself out!
