I had no problem choosing a quote for this challenge item. Despite it being nearly 10 years since I first saw Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and despite the fact that the scene in which it’s spoken is fairly inconsequential to the anime as a whole, I’ve carried this quote with me through the years like a protective talisman.

Izumi and Sig Curtis

Sure, if I asked you to conjure up an image of an iconic Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA) couple Izumi and Sig Curtis probably wouldn’t be at the forefront of your mind! That’s understandable. The FMA franchise has several power couples, including: Ed and Winry, Roy and Riza, and Ling and Lan Fan, and compared to this trio, Izumi and Sig do not get much screen-time. Not to mention that they lack the excitement of will-they-won’t-they, as they were already married long before the shows began. Nevertheless, Izumi and Sig have long been my favourite FMA couple, no, my favourite anime couple, for a number of reasons…

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Sure, this is a fairly conventional choice, and whilst it would have probably made me look cooler to have picked a less mainstream show, I don’t care, because it has long been my opinion that this show is the closest that we’ll ever get to a perfect anime. In every way that matters, Brotherhood is a masterpiece.
