Ty’s Top Picks for Summer 2019

Hello, everybody! I’m writing this from the ever hot and humid Arkansas, where summer is just around the corner! I’m already sweating through my shirt just thinking about it! What better way to while away the summer (and escape its oppressive heat) than by never leaving the comfort of my home and powering through this season’s anime? At least, that’s what I would do, if I didn’t have bills to pay! Anyway, you know how this goes by now: I pour through all of the PVs, reviews, and source material that I can get my hands on, so you don’t have to. Based on this “research” I compile a list of all of the shows that I think are worth watching. Click the “Continue Reading” button to see this list for yourself! 

Ty’s Pirate Crew

This week I was nominated twice over to participate in the “My Pirate Crew” tag. Thanks to both Karandi and Winter Reverie for considering little ol’ me! Whilst a fun tag, the idea of being stuck on a boat indefinitely is not my idea of a good time. I’m not the strongest of swimmers and, to be honest with you, the ocean freaks me out (did you know that we’ve explored more of space than we have our own oceans? Who knows what kind of horrors lurk in the deepest depths?). I’d much rather stick to exploring land, thank-you very much! That said, that wouldn’t be in keeping with the “My Pirate Crew” tag, so, to make up for being stuck on a boat, I’ll pick the most fun shipmates there ever was!

The Rules:

Ty’s Top 10 Terrifying Anime

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved all things scary! Anime, books, films, you name it. In fact, one of my earliest memories is sneaking downstairs in the middle of the night to watch the old black and white Dracula film! Yeah, I was a strange child. I think I scared even my parents! Maybe this adoration is a cocktail of schadenfreude, deriving enjoyment from other people’s misfortune, or a bizarre fascination with creatures not of this realm or hellish versions of those that are. But it’s more likely because, more so than with any other emotion, fear is so damn immersive! It gets you invested in the safety and well-being of the characters that you’re watching or reading about and leaves you wondering just what you’d do in their situation.

So in honour of the spooky season I’ve put together a list of my favourite scary anime. Please note that I didn’t say horror anime – even those that don’t fall exclusively into the horror genre can have their scary moments, as you’ll soon discover!
